The Fundamentals Process

How we create each of our animated videos is a multi-step process that has evolved over the years:

  1. Creative – writing through multiple review cycles with whomever is defined as our technical approvers. We do the writing but want sign off that the messaging is correct.
    • (Approval Milestone 1: Script)
  2. Shooting on White – once script is approved, we record it in studio. Script is locked at this point and cannot be changed. We generally target to get writing ready for this step so that we can tape on white during the same week we are in town taping other stuff.
  3. Storyboarding – light storyboarding is done during the writing process, but generally finished within a week of the taping. This way, any creative ideas that hit us during writing can be reflected in the graphics.
  4. Artwork – Our artist Paul Bateman is in the UK. Depending on his workload, he can generally have the storyboards converted into layered hand-drawn photoshop files within a few weeks.
  5. Motion Graphics – our motion team (Alchemy Creative) takes Paul's artwork and generally within a week or two will have a pretty final draft to review.
    • (Approval Milestone 2: Video Draft)
  6. Once this final milestone is signed off on, we will have them do a final pass with sound effects and any music. This will get rendered to a final master that we will publish on our channel(s) and make available for you to market with us.
